Technician

SMG3 is seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Professional Services Technician with deep wireless networking expertise to support, lead, and deliver advanced enterprise mobility and Wi‑Fi solutions to our customers. This hybrid role blends structured in‑office technical operations with dynamic onsite project work across the U.S., offering a balance of device provisioning, wireless design, and hands‑on field deployment.

Reporting to the Senior Network Engineer, the Professional Services Technician will serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and internal teams—providing expertise in wireless surveys, RF design, device configuration, troubleshooting, and project execution. The ideal candidate thrives in customer‑facing environments, communicates with clarity and confidence, and consistently delivers high‑quality work while managing multiple priorities. This role requires someone who can work independently in the field, collaborate cross‑functionally, and travel as project needs dictate

Responsibilities

In-Office Responsibilities:

  • Provision, configure, and quality‑check Zebra and Honeywell mobile computing devices at scale.
  • Provide customer support via call queues, Salesforce cases, and shared support inboxes; document work thoroughly.
  • Lead wireless and adjacent (non‑wireless) technical projects; set and manage customer/vendor expectations throughout delivery.
  • Build Ekahau heatmaps, survey reports, and RF design recommendations; validate designs against requirements.
  • Serve as a wireless consultant—advising on network design, deployment approaches, and optimization best practices.
  • Participate in customer/vendor calls; collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, and Operations.
  • Complete required training and participate in the 24/7 on‑call rotation as scheduled.

Partner with SMG3 field teams and third‑party partners; produce detailed onsite documentation, including photos, as‑built diagrams, and work reports.

  • Strong wireless background with Ekahau (or similar) proficiency—heatmaps, surveys, and design.
  • Experience with Zebra and Honeywell mobile computing devices.
  • Knowledge of Wi‑Fi fundamentals (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and Wi‑Fi 6).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide (approx. 25–40%) for onsite project work.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation and occasional off‑hours maintenance windows.
  • Flexibility to work in diverse customer environments, including warehouses, retail, and industrial settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CWNA, ECSE Design/Troubleshooting, CCNA/ACMA, Network+/Security+.
  • Experience with Wi‑Fi 6E and spectrum analysis tooling.
