Strategic Mobility Group to Host Internet of Things (IoT) Unconference

Zebra Technologies Sr. V.P. Phil Gerskovich to discuss how Motorola Solutions acquisition relates to Zebra's IoT strategy at IoT Unconference on August 14th

Strategic Mobility Group (SMG3), an innovative mobile technology provider and integrator, is pleased to announce the Internet of Things (IoT) Unconference to take place on August 14th at the Arlington International Racecourse. SMG3 has invited, among other panelists, industry leading IoT expert Phil Gerskovich, senior vice president at Zebra. Gerskovich, a keynote speaker at the Internet of Things World Forum in Barcelona in October, will speak to how the Motorola acquisition relates to Zebra's overall IoT strategy. SMG3's Unconference provides an open forum where attendees can discuss with a panel of experts the effect of the IoT trend on the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. IoT is a proposed development of the Internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity to send and receive data. According to Gartner, IoT is expected to result in $1.9 trillion in sales in 2020.

SMG3 designs, integrates and supplies pioneering AIDC solutions and services for enterprises across the U.S. The company's success and exceptional growth can be traced to their philosophy of delivering innovative solutions and comprehensive customer experience. This includes supplying their customers with previews of upcoming trends and mobile technology to drive sales and improve user experience. To that end, SMG3 has partnered with Zebra Technologies, Motorola Solutions, Mobile Epiphany, Stratum Global, and ASSIST Corporation to address the deluge of information on IoT and how it will affect AIDC technology.

Why should enterprises be interested in IoT? Phil Gerskovich says, "Because in this brave new world, IoT is rapidly reducing expenses, increasing revenues and providing real-world data to drive good customer experience. In the AIDC industry, IoT is helping enterprises remote manage their inventory, thereby giving customers new options for quality, customization and replenishment. Enterprises should be taking progressive steps to leverage this exciting trend to improve their customer experience." Gerskovich will also discuss how the Motorola Solutions acquisition fits into Zebra's IoT strategy and how it has provided their customers and partners with wider choices and better access.

SMG3 Co-Founder Nico Genet agrees. “Customers want new and improved methods of handling and sharing their devices and data. We hope this forum provides our industry with information on leveraging the IoT trend to better maintain and manage connectivity. This is one of the ways SMG3 is helping our industry make sense of trends like IoT and translating them to real-world solutions. SMG3 has also leveraged IoT in enhancing our professional services connectivity in a manner that gives our customers additional visibility to their data and increased remote/online support. Our goal is to make sure our customers have accessible information at their fingertips.”

The SMG3 Unconference will take place on Thursday, August 14th at the Arlington International Racecourse at Arlington, IL. Seats are limited to the first 50 registrants and need to be reserved via http://info.strategicmobility.com/iot_unconference_2014.
