Strategic Mobility Group, LLC's 2016 Team Week: Breaking Down the Walls

Office Pranks, Growing Pains, and a Relaxation Room? Strategic Mobility Group, LLC Hosts Fifth Annual Team Week

Last week, Strategic Mobility Group, LLC (SMG3) hosted its fifth annual Team Week. Kicking off Team Week (#SMG3TeamWeek), SMG3’s management team, including Nancy Gorski, Nico Genet, Michael Grudecki, and Maria DiNicola, pulled the ultimate office pranks, consisting of entire cubicles covered in tinfoil, plastic wrap, and spider webs, invaded with hundreds of cups filled with liquid, and overflowing seas of beach balls and Styrofoam peanuts.

Nancy Gorski, president of SMG3, set the theme for SMG3’s 2016 Team Week with her speech on “types of pain” and “being the good” in the world. Gorski encouraged employees to strive to be nothing less than extraordinary, and to hold themselves to a higher standard.

“Everyone experiences some type of pain and has to overcome hurdles. I want to collaborate not only as a company but an industry, and tackle these obstacles together. Let’s make a difference and be the good in the world, all while working together and overcoming our growing pains,” said Gorski.

Gorski continued, “I am incredibly proud of SMG3 for the tremendous amounts of growth it has made over the past five years. This year and every year to come, we will continue to break down the walls and reach industry firsts.”

When Gorski referenced, “breaking down walls,” she not only meant that metaphorically, but also literally. To symbolically commemorate this, SMG3 employees took swings at a designated wall – essentially breaking it down – with golden hammers, which everyone kept as a constant reminder to keep reaching new breakthroughs.

SMG3 leads by example from the top down not only celebrating the products and services it offers, but the individuals who make them come to life. With that, Gorski unveiled SMG3’s newest addition, “The Relaxation Room,” an employee lounge which is intended for whatever employees need it to be — a social environment with TV, video and board games, and air hockey, or a place to escape, relax, and meditate.

The out-of-the-box teambuilding events included a cooking challenge and a “Create Your Own Cocktail” competition where the drink was judged based on best appearance, taste, and most inventive name. The team also put driving skills to the test and raced wheel-to-wheel on a professionally designed indoor karting track.

Enjoying the beautiful summer weather, SMG3 took it outside with a BBQ cooked by Eric Holmes, co-founder of SMG3, and competitive “field day” activities, which included a hula-hoop contest and water gun fights. Delicious enough to satisfy any sweet tooth, the team threw an ice cream social, and concluded the evening with an eclectic dinner and specialty libations at The Saddle Room to celebrate the company’s five-year anniversary.

The activities that took place at SMG3 this past week spurred creativity, teamwork, and morale among employees. Gorski commented, “Taking the team outside of the office and exposing them to new experiences will break them out of their normal routine, igniting inspiration and fresh ideas, which are great qualities to bring back to the office.”

Nico Genet, the barcoding expert & co-founder of SMG3, added, “I’d like to extend a special thank you to everyone who thoughtfully planned all of these remarkable, teambuilding events for Team Week.”
